It is larger than a typical home shredder, slightly smaller than a standard-sized kitchen trash can. If you are shredding several times a week, this is a good model.
Small cheap shredder at home = 5. This one = 2. You would be very surprised by how quiet this machine is! It the least quiet one I have seen or heard.
Yes, but it will not shred if the envelope is too thick. There is a paper quantity indicator, that will not let you know if you're loading too much paper for the machine to handle. Worst case, you may have to open the envelope, take out a few sheets, shred the envelope, then shred the remainder.
Liquid Shredder Oil (Fellowes #35250) should be applied to the blades every time the basket is emptied (please refer to the user guide for complete instructions). We do not recommend the use of sharpening products since they have not been tested on our shredders.
There should be no problem shredding old dental records which include x-ray film x-ray film and mounts. Shredding, not melting, will get the job done just fine.
